Our Love Story
Oli and Clemmy first met in 2012 at King Edward’s School, Witley (KES) when they were both 17. Oli had just moved from Germany to the UK for sixth form, while Clemmy had already been at the school for five years. Their first real conversation took place at the school Christmas dinner, where they were seated next to each other. Clemmy initially assumed Oli wasn’t interested—he barely spoke a word! Little did she know, he was completely mesmerized by how beautiful he thought she was and was simply too shy to say much. A classic Oli move!
A few months later, they began talking more, and their first adventure together was a trip to Edinburgh to visit Clemmy’s sister. During the journey back, Oli, ever the romantic, asked Clemmy to officially be his girlfriend—an offer she happily accepted.
With Oli boarding at KES, weekends in West Sussex soon became their little escape. One of the most memorable surprises came when Oli, with the help of Clemmy’s sister Charlotte, secretly planned a trip to St. Tropez for Clemmy’s 18th birthday. She had no idea he would be there—until she saw him. Completely shocked, but in the best way possible, Clemmy knew then that this was something truly special.
The following year, they both left for university—Oli to Exeter and Clemmy to UWE in Bristol. Though studying in different cities, they made visiting each other a priority. After Clemmy graduated, she started working in the City at CFC Underwriting, while Oli took a placement at IBM in Stuttgart. Another chapter of long-distance began, but by then, they had mastered it, thanks to flexible schedules and plenty of FaceTime.
In 2019, after years of travel and time apart, they were finally living in the same city again. Oli moved to London to join Clemmy, who was still working at CFC, while he pursued his Master’s at London Business School. They made a home in Primrose Hill—until Covid-19 changed everything. Just before the first lockdown, they decided to stay with Clemmy’s parents for what they thought would be a few weeks... which turned into six months!
After the pandemic, Oli moved to Berlin for an exciting job opportunity at Trade Republic, bringing another period of long-distance. By then, it was second nature, and with Clemmy working remotely from Berlin for a few months, the distance didn’t seem quite so far. She even had the chance to improve her German—though, by her own admission, fluency remains a work in progress!
Then, in 2022, things came full circle. Oli’s new employer, Moss, announced plans to open a London office and asked him to lead the account management team. Finally, the long-distance days were over. They moved to Richmond, just a stone’s throw from Charlotte and Riccardo, and started their next chapter together.
In March 2023, while Clemmy was busy doing what she does best—shopping with her mum and Charlotte—Oli seized the moment to ask her dad, Roger, for his blessing to propose. Keeping the secret was no easy task, but Roger managed to hold onto it until July.
Then, to celebrate their 10-year anniversary, Oli got down on one knee at South Lodge Hotel. Clemmy was completely caught off guard, but without hesitation, she said the easiest “yes” of her life.
And now, they’re ready for the next adventure—married life! Oli and Clemmy can’t wait to celebrate with their wonderful family and friends and are so grateful to have them all by their side.
See you at the Church!
